Put your faith into action for farmworker justice... Become a member of Interfaith Action of SW FL!

Interfaith Action of Southwest Florida (IA) is a broad network of people of faith who work in partnership with the farmworkers of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) in their campaigns for fair wages, human rights, improved working conditions, and an end to modern-day slavery in the fields.

As institutions and individuals of many faiths, we call upon the spiritual resources of our faith traditions, the moral weight of our religious voices in society, and our consumer and shareholder power to work for farmworker justice and dignity. Through IA, faith communities partner directly with farmworkers to confront the root causes of poverty and exploitation in the fields.

Why become a member?

How does your membership contribute to justice for farmworkers?

Through education & outreach: IA organizes events for people of faith to learn directly from farmworkers about the injustices and abuses they face in the fields, develops and disseminates educational materials for faith communities on farmworker justice, and leads workshops to build support from people of faith for the Campaign for Fair Food.

Through public witness: IA staff, interns, and volunteers coordinate faith-based actions to create a moral and public call for farmworker justice. Additionally, IA coordinates national "Truth Tours" and public witness events to call on large tomato purchasers to ensure human rights for farmworkers.

Through supporting farmworkers: IA provides a broad range of logistical and technical support to farmworkers as they work for dignity and justice, including translation, transportation, the creation of a farmworker Community Center, and coordination of an educational community radio station.

As part of a national network: IA is founding member of the Alliance for Fair Food (AFF), a national network of human rights, religious, student, labor, and community organizations. The AFF works with the CIW to promote socially responsible purchasing in the corporate food industry in order to advance human rights for farmworkers.
